In April 2019 in China, ELA together with the 10 most representative World Associations (European Elevator Association – China Elevator Association – Pacific Asia Lift (Elevator) and Escalator Association – European Federation for Elevator SMEs - European Platform and Stair lift Association - European Lift Components Association - National Elevator Industry Inc. - National Elevator and Escalator Association - Associação Elevadores do Mercosul - National Lift Union) reiterated their commitment to achieve Global Technical Barrier-Free Trade (GTBFT) via a newly formulated World Elevator Federation (WEF). The objective of the agreement (based on worldwide acceptance of the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) prescriptive standards) is to promote and improve safety and to facilitate technological innovation and free movement of goods worldwide.
